2013 GCA Convention Tiara Contest Rules - Wed. April 10, 2013; 6:15 p.m.
Lakepoint Resort Lodge lobby

"Tiara" will be loosely interpreted as anything sparkly you wear on your head.

ALL TIARAS MUST SPARKLE. They may include anything that catches or emits light: "jewels"; shiny metal or plastic; a light source; sequins, tinsel, glitter, etc. And anything else that catches your fancy.  Have fun! Go crazy!!

There will be 7 categories.  Or more, if the judges so decide.

For Categories 1-5 the "tiara" must show original handiwork - you may further embellish store-bought "tiaras".  Standard flower show rules DO NOT apply!

A tiara may be entered in more than one category, but may win only once.
1.  Most beautiful.
2.  Best use of fresh plant material.(It does not need to be ALL fresh plant material) Gilding of lilies is permitted.
3.  Best up-cycling of materials. (Recycled, but with a flair)
4.  Most outrageous/funniest.
5.  Best "STAR" tiara
For Categories 6-7, a ready-made OR an embellished "tiara" may be used.
6.  Best ensemble - the whole package - think Holly Golightly in "Breakfast at Tiffanys"
7.  Best story about the tiara - strictly limited to 30 seconds.
Awards may be given for other outstanding tiaras as determined by the judges. The decision of the judges is final.

There will be a parade of all tiaras at the beginning of the Judges' Banquet so everyone can see them. You do not have to wear yours throughout the evening unless you so desire.

Convention 2013
So would these "All-stars!"
Betty Baxley's hat sparkles.
It would qualify as a tiara.
